The Importance of Follow Up

What if I told you that a simple thing that you can do might be the difference between you getting the sale or losing the sale?

It is something that anyone can do every day and that everyone is more than capable of doing – Following up.

It’s simple but it makes a huge difference to your business. Things fall through the cracks every day in the business world. Just think to yourself for a minute, as a business owner, would you pay someone for not forgetting to follow up with a customer or vendor? Of course, you would! That is what a salesperson does, follows up with leads and calls from customers. That is what a manager does, follows up on goals and tasks assigned to the staff. When looking to add to your staff, you should look for someone who not only is smart and has experience but will follow up and follow up through completion.

The biggest missed opportunities are because someone didn’t pick up the phone and call. Missed opportunities are just that, missed! Why? Because someone didn’t follow up and it was missed.

Promote people who follow up and do what they say they were going to do. Look for people who work hard and follow up. Experience is important but the ability to follow up and be organized in a work week is a standard that cannot be missed regardless of your industry.

Don’t forget to look in the mirror, what has dropped or fallen between the cracks in your business word recently? How can you make sure that doesn’t happen again? Look back at your email from the past month. Did you miss an opportunity?
