What motivates you? This is an important question that will really determine what will make you a success or failure. Very few people can be successful at something that doesn’t motivate them. I think of the people who work to live, not live to work!
But what if you aren’t particularly happy or motivated in what you are doing right now? How can you use what motivates you to be successful? That is the key!
Start with making a list of 3, no more than 3, things that motivate you. Things that get you up in the morning. Ask yourself if you would you be heartbroken if you couldn’t see this person, do this activity or have it be part of your life. It could be family. It could be health. It doesn’t matter as long as it motivates you.
For instance, my list would be . . .
- Greater Purpose (God, higher cause for humanity)
In my everyday life, I remind myself of these things/people. I have pictures in my office of my wife, family and close friends for this very reason. If the day is dragging and I have tasks to do that are tedious, I look at my wife and family and know I have to complete the task to make them proud, to support my family and to make sure our name is never deflated. I know this can sound dramatic, or beauty pageant-like but it is the truth.
Find what motivates you and use it to motivate everything you do!
- “Work with the end in mind.”
- What are you working for?
- How long do you want to work?
- What do you want to sell for or pass to family?
