Make Time for Peace: Finding a Work-Life Balance

The world we live in can get crazy and it never ends. There are always things to do, always problems to solve and always something more that can be done. Your to-do list can seem like it never ends and as soon as your cross something off of it, you are adding 5 more things to the list. You go home and you have a list of personal things to do as well. Who is going to clean the dryer vent if not you? You go through the week and weekend and then start all over again on Monday. That weekend rest ended up being a weekend of work.

It’s important in these times that you make time for peace. When I say peace, it is whatever can make you relax for more than a day. No email. No calls. No activity. Peace. It is one of the few times I would advise you to procrastinate. Push off whatever you have going on to take a break and recharge.

If you find peace sitting by a pool all day drinking a margarita, then do that all day Saturday and/or Sunday. If it’s hiking in the woods, do that! If it’s sitting with your significant other, do that also! If it is watching football all day, God bless!

Whatever makes you unplug and recharge, it’s imperative that you do this regularly.

If you don’t you will burn out and be ineffective at work. Peace will prolong your career!
